The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, community involvement and demonstrated leadership skills.
Scholarship recipients receive an award of $5000 (equivalent amount in other currencies) annually, for a maximum of four years or until a baccalaureate degree is earned, whichever occurs first. The award can be used for tuition, books, housing, fees and other costs normally incurred at an accredited educational institution.
This scholarship honors the late John W. Fisher, former Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Ball Corporation. John joined Ball in 1941 as a trainee and retired as chairman of the board in 1986, having worked at Ball Corporation for 45 years. John was one of the company’s strongest supporters of education and in 1982, a scholarship was created in Mr. Fisher’s name to further expand his commitment to education to the children of Ball employees.
The Lisa Pauley Women in Manufacturing scholarship was announced in 2022 to honor Lisa’s many contributions to Ball over her 40 year career. Since joining our aerospace business in 1981 as an accounting clerk, Lisa has created her own path, broken barriers and blazed a trail for women at Ball. She has been a strong advocate of our Drive for 10 vision and our people-focused culture. Her many contributions during her 23 years working in aerospace and her 17 years working in corporate include her advocacy for women and for our diversity and inclusion efforts and accomplishments. Lisa retired from Ball in 2022 but her impact at Ball will be felt for generations.
